Rider James (Jim) Schloffel is currently 52 years young and, as a kid, only raced a handful of times. In the spring of 2016, after about 35 years, he got back onto a BMX track and soon joined 510 Bay Area BMXers. He races both cruiser and class bikes. He says that his teammates are tremendous to be around both on and off the track. The off-track programs, such as juvenile hall, food for the homeless, clothing drives and Flood the Street with Bikes, have been amazing to be a part of, says Jim. He’d like to add that being a part of B.A.B. has pushed him to be the best that he can be. With some hard work and support from the team, Jim finished the 2018 season with a win at the ROC and Grand Nationals.

Coby started racing when he was just two years old, before there were Striders, and joined 510 Bay Area BMXers in 2014. In his spare time he plays basketball, baseball and football. He enjoys his trips with the team and says what he loves most is that BAB puts the person inside the rider first.
Sequoia is just six years old and girl expert class rider. She’s been racing as a member of USA BMX since she was two! Sequoia started on a strider bike but didn’t like all the attention that came with that so she switched her membership to be able to race with pedals. She says she loves BMX and has made a lot of friends. Sequoia is currently #1 state champion for her age. She’s also won the Presidents cup, #1 Gold cup plates, state plates, district plates and many more. She’s been on Bay Area BMXers team since 2017 and is happy to be one of the team’s National riders.
Originally from Sâo Paulo, Brazil, 28 year old Murilo started racing BMX when I was 12. He always liked to do sports and his passion for BMX started after moving to Indaiatuba, a city not far from São Paulo, and that had a huge BMX track just 2 blocks from his house. He would go from school straight to the track every day. Among his achievements are 3X National Champion in Brazil, 2X Panamerican medhalist (silver and bronze), 3rd Copa America, currently California State Champion. In 2106, Murilo came to America to pursue his dream and joined the Bay Area BMXers Team in 2017.
At 42, Mark races in the 41-45 expert class of the USABMX sanction body. He started racing in 1990 and has been racing for Bay Area BMXers since 2013. Mark says that it’s an amazing program that allows him to talk to and help out kids that don’t have the same opportunities he had when he was young. He loves being a part of the team and being around so many talented individuals from all ages that bring out his best – even on the worst days.
London has been riding BMX bikes 10+ years and loves the sport. The Bay Area BMXers team allows him to travel and see new places. London says that BMX has taken him places he never thought he’d be introduced to. 510 has shown him more that he can do outside of the sport than can be done on two wheels, such as Flood the Street With Bikes, which give him the opportunity to work with communities and kids in need!
Logan is currently 13 years old and has been racing BMX bikes for seven years. He’s been on Bay Area BMXers since 2017 and I couldn’t be more stoked to be part of something more than just a BMX team. Logan says Bay Area BMXers are a family (team) that loves to give back, whether it’s helping out the younger kids at the track or joining my coach Howard and helping at his school programs. He says he’s learned that with a lot of hard work and believing in himself he can accomplish anything and go anywhere. Logan is currently #1 state champion in cruiser for the second year in a row and #3 in class. He also holds down a 4.0 GPA in school!
Jasiri grew up in Southern California racing BMX as a kid. He had the privilege of riding with some of the great BMXers from the ‘80s at Ascot BMX track. He also raced from ‘98-‘02 riding at Whiitier Narrows and Orange Y BMX. More recently, Jasiri started racing again after moving to San Jose a few years ago. He’s currently riding for the Bay Area BMXers team in the 45x and cruiser classes. He loves BMX and enjoys riding for the team.
Howard is the founder of the BAY AREA BMXers. His biography and the future of this project is his main focus in life and he’s expressed his vision and mission statement on the main page of this website. Howard enjoys training and working with kids and strongly believes that BMX is a great sport for kids, as well as parents, to get involved in. The achievement of BMX racing provides a fulfillment that’s inexplicable. He feels people need to experience BMX racing either on or off the off the track, at least once in their life. Also, he’s developed many lifelong friends from racing and looks forward to working with youths in the community each and every year.
